Vegan OLY Shoes

Vegan OLY Shoes

I'm not one to usually post about workout gear, but I am stoked about these beauties. I've been Crossfitting for around 11 months now, and I'm getting to the point where my lifting form and gear can help me lift much higher weights.  So I've been in the market for OLY shoes for a while now.  OLY shoes are Olympic Lifting shoes and are designed especially for the sport.  What makes them special is they have a raised heel that is really sturdy and hard.  This helps you dig into the ground with your heels more to lift more weight. Majority of all OLY shoes on the market are made of leather.  After searching high and low for months, I finally came across these Inov-8 Fastlifts which according to their website are vegan (all but two of their lines are).  It also helps that they are super cute and have neon accents, my favorite. They finally arrived yesterday and today I tested them out during my morning WOD, and they were a HUGE hit with my coaches. No one had seen them before and kept commenting on how "cool" they looked from across the gym. I had mentioned to one of my lifting coaches last week I was looking for vegan ones and he asked me today "so you finally found vegan ones?!" to which I responded "yes", and then during my workout any time another coach walked in and commented on the shoes, he'd exclaim "and they're VEGAN! Can you believe that? No leather and they look awesome!" I feel really fortunate to be a member at such a veg-friendly box and for all the support I receive at this sport. I just wanted to share this quick being it made my morning, plus to let all you know if you are looking for vegan OLY's to check out Inov-8's offerings. They apparently look pretty dope even to non-vegans.

Vegan Shoe Line Beyond Skin Needs Your Help

Fashionable vegan footwear line Beyond Skin needs your help! Beyond Skin is a 10 year old, self-funded, indie, UK vegan footwear label dedicated to designing cruelty-free, luxury shoes for stylish, discerning ladies.  Their current line is considered more of a luxury "boutique" one, meaning high style at a slightly higher price point.  Although the luxury line is fabulous, they have aspirations to create a new diffusion line.  This one will feature 10 styles, which have been designed for everyday wear at a more affordable price-point. This to me is a fantastic idea, being it'll bring vegan and ethical footwear to the masses and a more pocket friendly price.  Plus, they're all classic styles meaning they go with everything and will last season after season. To help fund their new line, they created a Kickstarter campaign.  It's only live for another 15 days, so if you want to support vegan fashion for the masses, be sure to do so today! You learn more about the Kickstarter campaign as well as it's perks by visiting here.

Vegan Versions / Alexander Wang Naomi Sandals

Alexander Wang Naomi Sandal ALEXANDER WANG Noemi Sandal $570

I'm kind of obsessed with all of Alexander Wang's pieces. They are so simple, minimal, chic and tough. It's just a shame he uses so much real leather and that his line is so freaking expensive.  A girl can remain inspired though. I fell in love with these Noemi sandals a while back. I love the mesh sides and that they're kind of a cross between a cage heel and a boot. So sexy yet tough at the same time. So I was beyond excited to find a pair that looks almost EXACTLY the same on JustFab, and they're VEGAN!!!

JustFab Dresden JUSTFAB Dresden $69

See!  They're almost exactly the same!  Mine just arrived and I can't wait for it to get warm enough here in NYC for me to finally wear them.

Image forAnima is live! I've been hearing rumors about forAnima, the all vegan online marketplace for a while now.  forAnima is essentially an all vegan online shopping experience.  All the businesses are vegan focused, as well as the products.  A compassionate Etsy if you will. I'm not going to lie.  When I first heard of the concept I was a bit skeptical.  In general I don't find very many vegan focused fashion products aside from a few brands very appealing being they lean more towards a boho aesthetic.  So I wasn't quite sure of what to expect from forAnima.  I'm actually pleasantly surprised!  There's a ton of stuff on here I'd totally wear from brand's I've never even heard of. Here's a few examples.

Royal Turq Diag Dress $95

All the tees, tanks and dresses by Royal Bitch Couture $30 and up

Love Capri Leggings, perfect for yoga or Crossfit $65

Orange, Green White and Woven Cuff by Amanda Bess $12

They also have categories for shoes and handbags, men's, children, beauty and health, food items, pets and home decor.  It's really an all-inclusive, vegan shopping experience.

What do you think of forAnima?

Back to Black

Back to Black {What I'm Wearing: Denim Moto Jacket: Levi's (via Crossroads Trading Co.); Tee: Gap (via Buffalo Exchange); Jeans: Mavi; Heels: Target; Bag: Cornelia Guest} I wore this my first day back to work after my Denver to Chicago trip. Anytime I'm functioning on near zero sleep and can't think, I always wear black. You just can't go wrong with it. I had picked up this awesome tee while in Chicago so it worked perfect. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn it was now almost sweater weather in NYC, so I threw on my new denim moto jacket (also a Chicago find) and ran out the door to work. What followed I seriously couldn't make up. I go out to my car and guess what? Some jerk broke into it. The timing of this couldn't be more ironic because I was just telling Bex the day prior how rare it is to have cars broken into in my neighborhood. Go figure. Oh, and the vandal didn't take any of the valuables, they left them in the car. The only thing they took was my proof of insurance and registration. What... the...hell? It's like their primary goal was to make life as inconvenient as possible for whoever's car they broke into. After having to file a police report (because of the missing documents, I needed proof in case I get pulled over while waiting for new ones), clean up the glass and vacuum the car out, I finally got into the office. I go to turn my computer on and it doesn't turn on. It's totally dead. So I got to spend the rest of the day waiting for replacement parts to arrive to replace its power supply. I got zero done. I eventually get home from work only to have to take a parking spot a block away because all the street parking is taken by heavy machinery. Guess the city decided this week was a good week to replace our sewage pipes. Yay! Trying to remain positive, the backhoe did make an awesome photo backdrop. MooShoes Fashion Night Out

MooShoes Fashion Night Out 2012 Last week for Fashion Night Out I got to catch the very last hour of the MooShoes event.  I had a business dinner I couldn't cancel, and I rushed like a madwoman to get there.  What's amazing is I made it from Long Island to the Lower East Side of Manhattan in about 20 minutes.  It was pretty insane. I'm so glad I was able to attend, because they had some fantastic vegan vendors there.  In addition to meeting some of the vendor owners, I also met some Brooklyn Bliss readers, which made my day like you have no idea.  When I wasn't gabbing my face off, I was checking out the huge array of vegan shoes, handbags, accessories and books. That's the reason I was there, right? When it came to doing some shopping, I had been searching for a sleek iPad sleeve for a while, and found a perfect Matt & Natt version while there.  I also finally after years of wanting one put in a pre-order for a Vaute Couture Belden coat.  I can't wait to get it!
