Los Cabos / On the Beach

PICTUREGUYCABO.COM-6

While in Los Cabos a few weeks ago on my quick girls weekend trip, my friend Ariel and I decided it would be fun to hire a professional photographer and get some “glamour” shots on the beach. When we made the decision and booked the deal with Sam the photographer, I think at that point in the evening we had already had way too much tequila.

We scheduled our photo shoot for the very last day of our vacation to ensure we were bronzed enough. No point in getting glamour shots in Mexico unless your tan to boot.

The shoot itself was a LOT of fun.  It was kind of weird and awkward at times in a “this reminds me a little too much of my wedding photo shoot” but we ran with it and got a lot of fantastic images.  My favorite part was when Ariel got photo-bombed by a Cabo local walking his adorable dog on the beach.

Best part is before this shoot, we didn’t have any photos of the two of us on the trip together.  They were all of us separately.  So now we have some really great quality shots of us and the beach we enjoyed on this memorable girls weekend.

I think I may make a habit of getting a professional photography shoot every vacation I go on now.

Have you ever gotten a vacation photo shoot?  By the way, if you are ever in Los Cabos I highly recommend contacting Sam the Picture Guy.

Cleopatra

What I’m Wearing / ASOS Maxi Dress / ASOS Bib Necklace / ASOS Earrings / ASOS Arm Cuff

I had actually purchased my entire costume coincidentally from ASOS last year but never had the opportunity to wear it. Last October we had an early snow storm on Halloween, and I didn’t feel like going out to parties in a skimpy maxi dress while freezing my tukas off.

This year Jim and I hit up party this past Saturday, so I finally had an opportunity to wear what I put together to be Cleopatra, and I was super happy with the results! Usually I’d spend bank on a crappy polyester getup at Ricky’s and this was the first year I decided to be creative and buy my costume using “real” clothing items I can now re-wear. Not only did my costume look way high quality, but I can wear the rest of the stuff now that Halloween is over.

Actually, I’ve been wearing that bib necklace non stop since I got it last October. Just sayin.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who has messaged me on Twitter regarding Hurricane Sandy and how Jim and I were doing.  I’m happy to report both us and our families and friends are safe.  For Jim and I there was very minimal damage to our neighborhood which we are very thankful for.  It may take NYC a bit to get back up and running again, but I have complete confidence it won’t take long.  New Yorkers are crazy efficient and we don’t stop for anything, not even a hurricane.

Brooklyn Tribal

I bought this Old Navy dress back in July specifically for my Boston trip and I love it.  I’ve been wearing it to death this summer (that along with those neon sandals I’m sure everyone is already sick of seeing!).  I’m pretty picky with what patterns I wear.  I absolutely hate florals.  So this tribal print was a great, fresh addition to my wardrobe.

What new patterns have you been sporting this summer?

{Maxi Dress: H&M (old); Sandals: Melissa; Bag: Cornelia Guest (Bloomingdales); Sunglasses: Vintage (found at Brooklyn Flea); Adorable Yorkiepoo: Adopted!}

This heat and humidity here in NYC this summer has been absolutely brutal. I feel like I’ve been wearing my hair up like this all the time because otherwise I’m sporting a giant frizzy fro. Poor Portia is dying on walks lately between the extreme heat on the sidewalks and her black fur retaining all the heat.

Regardless, I think we both still look pretty fab, despite melting!

On a quick shopping note, I very recently invested in this Cornelia Guest handbag and I’m so glad I did! It’s perfect for my every day bag. It’s just the right size, and looks great with both professional attire as well as on weekends. It’s also really, really well made. It should last me a while. I’m now a huge fan of the brand and can’t wait to see what new designs she comes up with.

Waiting for Fall

31 Aug

It is so ridiculously hot here in Brooklyn today I can’t stand it.  It’s not too humid, but it’s still pretty unbearable.

To make the heat even worse, I got several packages delivered to work today with all the new items I recently purchased to complete my fall wardrobe.  Everything from over the knee boots, to comfy slouchy sweaters and layering pieces.  Ugh.  All I want is to wear this stuff now but it’s 102 degrees out.  Yuck.

Fall can’t come fast enough.

What I’m Wearing:

Maxi Dress: Century 21
Blouse: Score Swap Meet Find
Belt: H&M
Sandals: Alloy
Earrings: Junk in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Bracelet: Thrifted
