I've been in need of more flat shoes in my life, and when I spotted these all over Pinterest months ago, I've been longing for a vegan pair. I love how they're kind of the badass love child of a cowboy boot, moto boot and harness boot all in one.
Lo and behold, I found this version on JustFab just the other week. Also looks like Forever21 is making a version as well. Grab them while they're hot!
WHAT I'M WEARING // YASO Faux Leather Jacket // H&M Blouse // MAVI Jeans (Old) // CHINESE LAUNDRY Leopard Loafers (old, via Delia's) // HURLEY Backpack // JUSTFAB Sunglasses
Last Friday, Jim and I took our friends Gina and Mark to MOMA and then headed slightly cross-town to Times Square. The street artist JR currently has the Inside Out Project set up there and we wanted to check it out and hopefully get to participate.
JR is best known for his portraits, so as part of this project he's taking portraits of New Yorkers throughout the 5 boroughs and installing them in areas around the city. To make the process crazy efficient, they have a fully outfitted photography studio truck, so they've been moving the truck from neighborhood to neighborhood. If you visit their Facebook Page, the portraits done around the Rockaways and other Sandy stricken areas are so powerful it makes me well up. I highly recommend checking it out.
We had heard the photo truck was in Times Square so we took a quick walk over to see if we could participate. Sadly, they weren't there due to a 10k race being set up for the weekend. But we still had a great time enjoying the incredible weather and checking out all the portraits pasted to the sidewalks.
Gina and I also wanted to take the opportunity to take our own portraits amongst the portraits. How meta, right?
The Inside Out Project is supposed to be in Times Square through May 10th. Jim and I are still hoping to make it there one day after work to get ours done. If you participate you have the option to either have it pasted at the site, or to take it home with you. We'd love to have the portraits for our apartment, so fingers crossed we'll be able to make it happen!
WHAT I'M WEARING // YASSO Faux Leather Jacket // H&M Dress //MIA Boots // CORNELIA GUEST Bag // JUSTFAB Sunglasses
So it's warm enough nowadays for dresses but not for sandals just yet. I couldn't wait to wear this new graphic, black and white tie dye dress I recently picked up at H&M so I threw on some moto style boots and I was ready to go. I have a feeling this outfit will be a uniform for me the next coming weekends. I LOVE the entire look.
I really like wearing maxi dresses on weekends. They're super comfortable and all you have to do is throw it on over your head and you are dressed and presentable for the day with minimal effort.
Notice a trend here on Brooklyn Bliss? I don't like having to think or put a lot of effort into much of anything. Everything's got to be easy. That and comfortable. I might seem pretty put together but truth is I'm just on auto-pilot and have found systems over the years that work well for me. In all honesty I'm probably one of the laziest people on the planet. Truth.
Now that it's spring, what's been your weekend uniform?
WHAT IM WEARING // KAREN KANE Wrap Dress (very old via Filene's Basement) // TARGET Vivian Heels // JUSTFAB Cuff // CORNELIA GUEST Nicholas Satchel
As you can see, spring is in full bloom here in Brooklyn! Here's my first post with my new hair. What do you think?
This LBD (little black dress) has been in my wardrobe for probably 8 years now. Last time it made an appearance on the blog was in 2010 I think! It's true testimony that every girl's wardrobe needs the perfect LBD. Actually, multiple LBD's if you ask me. This is technically my "daytime" LBD. It works for day or evening, but is a little too casual for cocktail or formal events. I have a sexier Dolce & Gabbana one that I wear to those.
Not only is this wrap version very flattering on, but since it's a jersey knit it's INCREDIBLY comfortable. Just like jammies. Any time I roll out of bed, have no idea what to wear and am incredibly cranky I always put this on. This was the case the day these photos were taken, I had literally gotten only 4 hours sleep due to my cat waking me up multiple times in the middle of the night. I'm not embarrassed I was so tired I actually cried. She's such a brat.
I also like to wear this dress a lot when I travel for work. Jersey wrap dresses are just as comfortable to wear on planes for hours at a time as leggings and a sweatshirt.
So lesson of the day is, if you've gotten zero to no sleep, try a little black dress. No one will know the difference.
Do you have a go to LBD?
WHAT I'M WEARING // A QUESTION OF Tee (bought in Iceland) // ZARA Blazer // H&M Jeans // TARGET Heels // CORNELIA GUEST Handbag // JUSTFAB Sunglasses
I'm not usually a fan of graphic tees, but I spotted this one at a boutique while in Iceland and just had to get it. I absolutely love its Givenchy reference, and at the same time speaks to my values in a weird way. The fact that it's somewhat profane also sold the deal for me. Even my mother was like "Oh! You have to buy that shirt it's soooo you!".
So in other news I cut all my hair off last week! These are actually the last photos I took prior to the big chop. Now that it's been a week and I'm used to the new 'do, it's actually kind of strange for me looking at my old, long locks. I must say though, I'm a much bigger fan of short hair on me. I think it's much more flattering not only for my face and physique, but also for my curls.
Since I was going to chop off over 12 inches of my hair, there was no way I wasn't going to get it documented somehow plus I wanted the photos for when I donated my hair to Locks of Love. So stay tuned later this week for photos of the final result as well as some from my actual appointment.
WHAT I'M WEARING // HANES Tee // YASO Faux Leather Jacket (similar)// H&M Jeans // JUSTFAB Sunglasses // TRIPLE 5 SOUL Tote Bag (old)
Spring is officially here! I love that it's been in the mid-50's to 60's consistently for more than a week! That means no more winter coats for me and instead I get to wear my favorite faux leather jacket on repeat. It also means it's now light out later, so I can do more outfit posts!
My big hair appointment is tomorrow, and I have to say looking at the photo below of my curls I'm somewhat nervous to chop it all off. It's really pretty at the length it's at and I know a lot of girls would love to be in my position. Then I remember how long it takes me to get my hair to dry (which is over 30 minutes, blow-drying!) and I remember going shorter is the best decision for me at this moment. I just simply don't have the time to maintain it, which means I'm constantly wearing a ponytail or bun. Not very chic.
I'm pretty excited to see how it comes out! Spring is the perfect time for a change.
Over the past few weeks I've been completely uninspired to get dressed in the morning. When I tried to figure out why, the answer was simple. I hadn't cleaned out my closet in over a year (where I usually do it every 6 months) and much of what I had I simply didn't like anymore or didn't fit. I thank Crossfit for that.
So I finally did a big purge a few weekends ago and sold off most of what I was getting rid of, which then gives me some funds to buy new stuff!
The thing I was needing the worst to complete my wardrobe after I cleaned it out was new pants. None of my pants fit properly anymore because of Crossfit. I couldn't get anything up over my quads anymore. So first thing I decided to shop for was some new jeans. Luckily my job is business casual, so I can wear jeans so long as they aren't standard blue jeans. Colored and patterned jeans are totally acceptable in my office, which is awesome because this spring that's exactly what's on trend so there are tons of options!
These are some of my most recent additions you'll see on the blog soon enough. I can't wait to wear them all!
What I'm Wearing / Old Navy Tee (similar) / Lasso Faux Leather Jacket (similar) / Mavi Jeans / JustFab Keira Moto Boots (c/o) / Gap Beanie (thrifted)
Okay, so go ahead and lock me up. This is seriously pretty much the same outfit I wore last weekend, aside for a few adjustments to accommodate the warmer weather and activities I'd be doing that day. Jim and I decided to do a last-minute Costco run which resulted in me grabbing the first things I saw in my closet and throwing them on. Flat shoes, check. Comfy t-shirt, check. Beanie (my recent obsession), check. Sure, I look like I belong in jail but the outfit did the job.
What item in your closet do you currently have on repeat that should have you thrown in fashion jail?
What I'm Wearing / Levi's Jacket (via Crossroads Trading Co) / Alloy Sweater / Tightsplease Leggings (c/o) / JustFab Keira Moto Boots (c/o) / Cornelia Guest Handbag
All I've been wearing lately is leggings and boots. It seems I get lazier and lazier as I get deeper into my 30's. This morning when I was getting ready for work (yes, I'm even wearing them to work, super lazy) I near had a panic attack when I saw I was down to my last clean pair of leggings for the week.
Tightsplease had contacted me not too long ago and generously offered me my pick of an item from their store to check out. Didn't take long at all for me to find these leopard paneled leggings on their website and before I knew it they we're here for me to try on. Perfect choice for me considering they're leggings plus leopard, which equals awesome.
Another new acquisition I've been wearing non-stop are these moto boots from JustFab. I've been wearing heels so often the flat boots are a welcome break.
I met the JustFab team at the LuckyFABB event this past September and I was stoked all their products are coincidentally vegan. Not only are they vegan, they're chic and inexpensive too. Since getting these boots they gifted me with I've bought another pair of knee-high wedge boots and a hot leopard and yellow clutch I can't wait to use. Those boots go perfect with leggings as well, which means no one will see me in normal clothing while in public for quite some time.
What are some of your new favorite "lazy day" wear acquisitions?
