My Vegan Fall Shopping List

My Vegan Fall Shopping List

Fall is here! Or at least in my head it is, because it's September. September to me means fall, and that it's now acceptable to wear boots again. I usually do most of my shopping bi-annually, corresponding with both the fall and spring seasons. Fall is my favorite because I love sweater weather, scarfs, boots and cozy stuff. Here's a quick peek of some things I'm currently wanting to add to my wardrobe this season. All are cruelty-free and vegan of course.

Fall Shopping List

ONE // Turtlenecks!  (similar here) // TWO // Ripped Up Boyfriend Jeans (similar here) // THREE // Ankle Boots with Hardware (similar here) // FOUR // Cat Eye Ray Ban Wayfarers // FIVE // Obsessive Compulsive Stained Lip Tar in New Wave // SIX // A dual tone trench.  I scored a very similar one from Calvin Klein // SEVEN // I adore this black and neon scarf from ASOS.  I'm debating buying it, or if I should just learn to knit one myself.  Decisions, decisions.

What will you be picking up to complete your fall wardrobe?

Vegan Winter Coat Roundup

This post originally appeared last week on my column Vegan Vogue I write for I Eat Grass. If you haven't stopped by I Eat Grass yet, be sure to do so! Vaute Vegan winter coats have come a long way. It used to be the only warm options out there were synthetic filled puffer coats. While warm, it's sometimes hard to feel chic and sexy when you're all puffed up like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.  Now with advances in fabric technology, vegans have many more options when it comes to selecting a coat to keep them warm all winter long. While selecting new coats for myself, I had been on the lookout for a while for a vegan dress coat, as well as a warm, casual parka.  For my dress coat, I've fallen head over heels for my Vaute Couture Belden coat (shown on me above, $430.00).  The parka I eventually found and purchased is the Topshop Faux Fur Trimmed Parka below.   Mine is all black (from last season) and absolutely adore it. The faux fur interior keeps me super toasty. During the Fall 2012 runway shows this past February it was all about big, boxy coat silhouettes. Just because you're vegan doesn't mean you can't participate in this trend, there are tons of options!  Here are some of my favorite vegan friendly coat picks currently in stores.
Topshop Faux Fur Trim Parka $196.00
Topshop Neoprene Oversize Boyfriend Coat $230.00
ASOS Neoprene Coat $86.23 (currently on sale)
Topshop Petite Check Cocoon Coat $180.00
Topshop Faux Leather Trim Baja Coat $110.00
Old Navy Women's Long Belted Frost Free Coat $95.00* *Edit: When I first put this round-up together, the Old Navy coat was listed as being 100% polyester and had no mention of down in the product description at all, which landed it a spot on this list.  Looks like after this post was written, an upset vegan customer posted a negative review on the coat on Old Navy's website stating they received the coat and were very upset that on it's label it listed goose down as a material.  This was is extremely misleading based on the website description. Old Navy since has updated their website and it's safe to say this coat is not vegan.  Sorry for any confusion! What vegan coat are you wearing this winter?

Cleopatra What I'm Wearing / ASOS Maxi Dress / ASOS Bib Necklace / ASOS Earrings / ASOS Arm Cuff I had actually purchased my entire costume coincidentally from ASOS last year but never had the opportunity to wear it. Last October we had an early snow storm on Halloween, and I didn't feel like going out to parties in a skimpy maxi dress while freezing my tukas off. This year Jim and I hit up party this past Saturday, so I finally had an opportunity to wear what I put together to be Cleopatra, and I was super happy with the results! Usually I'd spend bank on a crappy polyester getup at Ricky's and this was the first year I decided to be creative and buy my costume using "real" clothing items I can now re-wear. Not only did my costume look way high quality, but I can wear the rest of the stuff now that Halloween is over. Actually, I've been wearing that bib necklace non stop since I got it last October. Just sayin. Cleopatra Cleopatra Cleopatra P.S. Thanks to everyone who has messaged me on Twitter regarding Hurricane Sandy and how Jim and I were doing.  I'm happy to report both us and our families and friends are safe.  For Jim and I there was very minimal damage to our neighborhood which we are very thankful for.  It may take NYC a bit to get back up and running again, but I have complete confidence it won't take long.  New Yorkers are crazy efficient and we don't stop for anything, not even a hurricane.

Vegan Versions Fall Sweaters

It's finally sweater and boots weather! Fall is my absolute favorite season, I love being all cozy in lots of layers. I've been looking for some shopping inspiration to update my current sweater collection, which is a challenge being majority of higher quality sweaters are not vegan. I don't want any wool in my sweaters. Luckily I came across some pretty fab options from ASOS, and to my surprise most of them are vegan! I've been bookmarking away at their site over the past week, trying to decide which ones to get. Here's some of my favorite picks.
